Jamaica Cruise Tourism Returns as Major Ports Reopen

by Julie Bouchner December 15, 2025
written by Julie Bouchner

Jamaica’s cruise industry is back up and running, with all four major cruise ports reopened after Hurricane Melissa. Port Royal, Ocho Rios, Montego Bay, and Falmouth have all welcomed ships again, marking the return of cruise activity across the island.

This quick turnaround was made possible through the combined efforts of the Ministry of Tourism, its agencies, JAMVAC/Jamaica Cruising, the Port Authority of Jamaica, Destination Assurance Councils, local authorities, emergency teams, and industry partners. While some restoration work is still underway, cruise operations have officially resumed and core systems are in place.

The restart of cruise operations also came with a notable milestone: the arrival of the Vasco da Gama as the first homeporting vessel to operate out of Kingston since the reopening of the Port Royal/Kingston gateway.

The Vasco da Gama is a mid-sized cruise ship known for longer itineraries and premium onboard offerings. Its arrival marks Jamaica’s move into cruise homeporting, where ships begin and end their voyages in the destination rather than stopping only as a port of call.

Homeporting brings added economic benefits, from increased spending by passengers and crew to higher demand for flights, hotels, transportation, restaurants, and tours. It also supports port services such as bunkering, provisioning, waste removal, and technical operations, while encouraging visitors to spend more time in the destination before or after their cruise.

With all four ports now open and homeporting underway in Kingston, Jamaica is strengthening its role as a competitive cruise destination in the region. Despite recent challenges, the cruise sector is moving forward with steady momentum.

MSC Cruises and MEYER WERFT Sign Deal for Six New Ships

by Porthole Cruise and Travel December 15, 2025
written by Porthole Cruise and Travel

MSC Cruises has placed an order for four next-generation cruise ships with MEYER WERFT, with options for two additional vessels, launching a new ship class under the New Frontier platform. The agreement secures long-term production capacity at the Papenburg, Germany, shipyard into the next decade.

The announcement was made at the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy by Federal Minister Katherina Reiche, Lower Saxony Minister-President Olaf Lies, MSC Cruises Executive Chairman Pierfrancesco Vago, and MEYER WERFT CEO Dr. Bernd Eikens.

Pierfrancesco Vago, Executive Chairman of MSC Cruises, said: “MEYER WERFT’s track record, expertise and proud history make it a true beacon of European shipbuilding. Together, we will create vessels that redefine the cruise experience while preserving the craftsmanship that keeps Germany at the forefront of maritime engineering. The New Frontier class will enable us to design new and exclusive itineraries, offer exceptional guest experience and will feature next-generation environmental technologies that will advance our net-zero 2050 commitment.”

The New Frontier vessels will have a maximum passenger capacity of approximately 5,400 and a gross tonnage of about 180,000, with deliveries scheduled to begin in 2030 at a rate of one ship per year.

For MEYER WERFT, the agreement represents a long-term commitment that supports employment and continued investment at the shipyard and across its supplier network.

Dr. Bernd Eikens, CEO of MEYER WERFT said: “This new order marks a significant milestone in the 230-year history of MEYER WERFT. We are delighted to welcome MSC Cruises as a new customer and strategic partner, and we are truly honored by the trust they have placed in us. This long-term partnership with MSC Cruises ensures sustainable growth and job security for many years to come. Today is a truly positive and significant day for everyone at MEYER WERFT—our employees and our partners alike.”

The order is expected to secure thousands of jobs in Germany, particularly in Lower Saxony and Papenburg. MEYER WERFT employs more than 3,200 people directly, with over 20,000 additional jobs in the region linked to its operations.

With deliveries extending into the 2030s, the agreement reinforces Papenburg’s position as a key hub for global cruise shipbuilding and supports the long-term strength of Europe’s maritime manufacturing sector.

MSC Cruises Unveils New ‘Let’s Holiday’ Campaign

by Julie Bouchner December 15, 2025
written by Julie Bouchner

Drew Barrymore and Orlando Bloom will return in a new commercial for MSC Cruises’ “Let’s Holiday” campaign as the cruise line rolls out its winter 2027–2028 deployment.

MSC Cruises on Monday announced its full lineup of ships and itineraries for the season and shared a behind-the-scenes preview of the upcoming ad, which is set to debut next year during Wave Season.

Drew Barrymore said: “It was amazing to be back on board MSC World America—my god daughter!—to shoot another ‘Let’s Holiday’ commercial. I love doing this job, I love working with Orlando, and I love enjoying all the ways European style and American comfort come together when you’re sailing with MSC Cruises. I got to dine at Eataly and of course there’s the Cliffhanger ride, but what I love the most is how you can choose your own holiday adventure. MSC Cruises has so many ships setting sail from so many places, and they all offer their own cool features to discover!”

Winter 2027–2028 Deployment Overview

MSC Cruises will offer a range of Caribbean itineraries sailing from three U.S. homeports during the winter 2027–2028 season. The schedule includes the inaugural sailing of MSC World Atlantic from Port Canaveral, operating alternating seven-night Eastern and Western Caribbean itineraries. MSC Grandiosa will also sail from Port Canaveral with three- and four-night cruises to Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve and The Bahamas.

From PortMiami, MSC World America will anchor a four-ship lineup that includes short cruises aboard MSC Seaside, six- and eight-night itineraries on MSC Seashore, and longer 10- and 11-night sailings on MSC Poesia. In Galveston, MSC Seascape will operate seven-night Western Caribbean cruises.

Campaign Details

Barrymore and Bloom first appeared together in MSC Cruises’ “Let’s Holiday” campaign earlier this year, which debuted during the Big Game. The new commercial continues the campaign with updated creative highlighting MSC’s blend of European style and American comfort. Filming recently took place aboard MSC World America, and the cruise line has released a preview along with an interview featuring the two stars.

Bloom said: “MSC Cruises really does have something for everyone. Being back on MSC World America for this new commercial was great because I was able to see what the full cruising experience is like. I went from a quiet spa day on board to a gorgeous beach day at Ocean Cay. Drew and I have great chemistry, and we loved working together again. I can’t wait for people to see the next chapter of ‘Let’s Holiday’ and watch us discover more of MSC Cruises’ European style and American comfort.”

The new commercial is scheduled to debut in early 2026, ahead of several milestones for MSC Cruises, including its first Alaska season from Seattle aboard MSC Poesia beginning in May and the debut of MSC World Asia in the Mediterranean later in the year.

Steve Leland’s Crossing the Atlantic with Azamara

by Steve Leland December 11, 2025
written by Steve Leland

My friends looked completely bewildered when I told them we were flying from Miami to Lisbon just to cruise back home. “Why go to all that trouble?” they asked. To me, the answer was effortless: How could I possibly turn down 14 days aboard Azamara Onward? It was a chance to unwind, savor incredible food, and let someone else take care of every detail. Enjoying nearly two weeks of comfort, discovery, and ocean views wasn’t a question. It was the only sensible choice.

Dining at Sea

Photo: Azamara Cruises

There’s something about repositioning cruises with the unhurried days at sea that encourages you to settle into the rhythm of the ship, savor its amenities, and appreciate great service. It’s completely opposite to the vibe of port-intensive itineraries.

But on this sailing, my motivation went beyond the serenity of sea days. As a fervent foodie, there was an entirely different temptation at play that promised its own kind of indulgence and ultimately became the real hook for me.

Azamara Cruises | Destination Immersion

Destination Immersion | Photo: Azamara Cruises

As an extension of Azamara’s Destination Immersion ethos, this specific voyage placed emphasis on the line’s evolving culinary prowess. Our crossing became a taste-bud treasure hunt, infused with regional aromas, textures, and traditions of the Atlantic … and the rest of the world.

A tone of gastronomic celebration was set almost immediately. On our first night, the ship unveiled a seafood extravaganza in the Windows Café Buffet serving up cold, briny oysters, glistening prawns, and delicately prepared fish, with each dish echoing the ocean we were crossing. Meanwhile, the dining room offered an Indonesian-inspired menu that felt like a personal invitation. As someone who adores Indonesian cuisine, I couldn’t resist the crisp freshness of a gado-gado salad, its vegetables snapping with every bite beneath a spicy peanut dressing. The beef rendang that followed was slow-cooked to tenderness, and rich with coconut, chili, and warm aromatic spices that lingered long after the last bite.

Day on Shore

I hadn’t come for destinations, but having missed the opportunity to view the inside of the Hassan II Mosque on previous visits to Casablanca, I jumped at the chance to enter one of Africa’s largest mosques with its 689-foot minaret, the second tallest in the world.

Once the lone port of call was complete, the ship aimed itself toward ten open-ocean days across the Atlantic. It may seem like a leap for first-timers, but believe me, there’s nothing quite like the serenity of a trans-Atlantic crossing.

Mosaic Cafe | Photo: Azamara Cruises

Before long, the daily rituals just felt natural. Mornings began with a proper caffeine fix at the ship’s specialty coffee bar, the Mosaic Cafe. That was followed by a mile-long walk around the deck and a stop at the gym, just long enough to justify the temptations of the themed lunch buffets.

Afternoons unfolded at an easy pace with enrichment lectures, trivia sessions, and seminars exploring red and white wine varietals, topped off with a restorative dip in the poolside hot tub before dinner.

Evenings invited guests to explore a world of flavors through regionally inspired menus, with Asian, German, Italian, Mexican, and French themes all taking their turn in the spotlight. Azamara enhanced these offerings even further with its specialty venues: the Italian-inspired elegance of Aqualina and the refined, classic steakhouse ambience of the Prime C Restaurant.

For guests looking to elevate their culinary journey even further, Azamara’s Chef’s Table options turned dinner into a truly memorable affair. One evening may showcase the rich, layered flavors of an Indonesian rijsttafel, a feast perfectly suited for those eager to explore beyond the familiar. Another might present a refined procession of French classics, each course vibrant, generous, and paired with top-shelf wines, all to the delight of the most curious of palates.

An open-air Latin American street-food festival brought the sizzle of grills into a spirited showcase of bold regional flavors.

The highly celebrated White Night dinner transformed the entire deck into a brilliant outdoor party with dining under the stars. twinkling lights, live music, and a contagious energy that pulled everyone onto the dance floor.

Choosing where to dine became a pleasant dilemma: full-service elegance in the beautiful Discoveries Restaurant, or the relaxed ease of the Windows Café buffet. Alfresco options beckoned poolside at the Patio … or we could ease into a front-row seat to the horizon slipping away in the ship’s wake on the Sunset Veranda.

Beyond the Belly

Okay, I know it sounds like food is the only thing rattling around in my head. While it does occupy significant mental real estate, why should my taste buds be the only sense receptors having all the fun?

So I sprinkled in a different kind of  personal indulgence in an attempt to convince my aging body that it’s still a finely tuned machine. Luckily, Azamara’s Sanctuary, the ship’s full-service spa, was perfectly equipped to keep the illusion alive … and the perfect excuse to be pampered into a state of bliss.

A chat with the spa’s expert therapists revealed the perfect remedy for my ever-persistent back grumble. A gentle massage, enhanced with warm herbal poultices that felt like tiny pillows of enchantment, was exactly what the situation required. The relief was so immediate that I followed up the next day with a full-body Thai massage, an experience that proved these therapists possess a kind of professional wizardry that can coax even the creakiest traveler back to life.

With each day’s blend of memorable flavors, thoughtful enrichment, and restorative moments, I found my cravings for nourishment, insight, and renewal fully met. All that remained was Azamara’s engaging lineup of evening entertainment. Talented singers took the stage with spirited musical revues, while a magician–mentalist and a special guest vocalist added variety through intimate spotlight performances. In the Living Room Lounge, the Sensasia Quartet stood out as a true gem, one of the finest lounge bands I’ve heard in more than 40 years of cruising.

By the time Miami’s skyline appeared on the horizon after being at sea for 14 days, the trip had delivered exactly what I’d hoped for. My friends may still shake their heads at the idea of flying across an ocean just to sail back, but for me, this wasn’t trouble, it was the reward. If given the choice, I’d do it again in a heartbeat (and I will).

by Julie Bouchner December 9, 2025
written by Julie Bouchner

Regent Seven Seas Cruises marked a major milestone for Seven Seas Prestige as the ship floated from dry dock on November 27, 2025.

As Regent’s first new ship class in 10 years, Seven Seas Prestige sets a new standard for ultra-luxury cruising.

“Seven Seas Prestige touching water for the first time marks an extraordinary moment for Regent Seven Seas Cruises, representing the culmination of years of planning and collaboration with our long-standing partners at Fincantieri,” said Jason Montague, Chief Luxury Officer for Regent Seven Seas Cruises. “The overwhelming response to this vessel affirms that discerning travelers recognize something truly exceptional is on the horizon; emphasized by the ship’s launch day which became our biggest single booking day for a new ship in our history. From the unprecedented Skyview Regent Suite to every thoughtfully designed detail, Seven Seas Prestige embodies our dedication to redefining ultra-luxury travel.”

More about the float-out ceremony

  • The float-out took place at Fincantieri’s Marghera shipyard in Italy. Brunetta Casara served as Madrina, breaking a champagne bottle against the hull and cutting the ceremonial ribbon after a prayer by the shipyard chaplain.
  • Marco Spiga, Senior Director, Project Manager, Regent Seven Seas Cruises, thanked Fincantieri for their partnership in bringing the ship to life.
  • The ship will now move to the outfitting pier for final construction.

About Seven Seas Prestige

Set to debut in December 2026 as Regent’s seventh ship and first of three Prestige-class ships, Seven Seas Prestige will carry 822 guests with 630 crew, offering one of the highest crew-to-guest ratios in the industry. The ship is 40 percent larger than previous Regent vessels but accommodates only 10 percent more guests, delivering Unrivaled Space at Sea.

During its inaugural season, Seven Seas Prestige will sail 13 voyages across Europe and the Caribbean, including two transatlantic crossings. Itineraries of 10 to 15 nights highlight destinations such as Regent’s private island, Harvest Caye, Belize, the Panama Canal, and overnight stays in London, Lisbon, and Bordeaux.

A second Prestige-class ship is planned for 2030 and a third for 2033.

Whither Adventure?

by Porthole Cruise and Travel Magazine December 9, 2025
written by Porthole Cruise and Travel Magazine

How close does your cruise bring you to the real Alaska — and how close do you really want to be? That felt like the right question to ask as I almost stepped in a pile of bear poop.

I was hiking near the head of the line of about fifteen passengers from Alaskan Dream Cruise’s Admiralty Dream — about half the passenger roster for our 7-night, 8-day sailing on the “Alaska’s Ultimate Adventure” itinerary, which launched just this year. It was at least the fourth or fifth poo-pile we’d seen on that trail, each one more recently deposited than the last. That meant we were not far behind the bear, heading the same direction and getting closer. We never did see it, but no doubt it saw us, or at least heard us, as it melted into the forest.

That easy, mile-long ramble through the tall trees and mossy, sound-dampening understory of the temperate rainforest gave us a gentle introduction to hiking in Southeast Alaska. And it was the first of many opportunities during the trip for us passengers to put our heads together and chatter about what we’d seen — something that would, ultimately, become one of the hottest topics for our wide-ranging dinner discussions, as we abandoned any pretense of dining at separate tables. With the help of the stewards, pushed the four-tops into long, banquet-style tables that ran the length of the dining room and made it easier to visit with one another.

How many miles would an Alaskan hiker?

When I first signed up for this trip, I was content to wait and see just how much adventure it takes to reach that”’ultimate” label. Alaskans tend to go hard in the adventure category, but it’s still true that one person’s ultimate adventure up here could be another person’s boring Tuesday, and vice versa. Add in the fact that most cruise adventures tend to exist within their own realm, and it was hard to guess what I was getting into.

So I didn’t even try to figure it out — until I suffered a serious knee injury that will take at least a year to heal. It left me fretting whether I’d be able to participate in the cruise activities — especially the hiking.

Happily, I needn’t have worried. Although there is no clear label of how many miles you’ll hike on this cruise, how many boat landings you’ll do, or how long you’ll spend in a kayak, from day one, the crew is taking your measure and tailoring the activities to meet your desires and mobility levels. There were easy, medium and hard — or in one case, “extreme” — options for every hike, and plenty of crew on hand to escort passengers in every group.

Never leave your wing…kayak?

The sole admonition when kayaking was to not paddle out of sight of the Admiralty Dream. But as long as we didn’t stray too far from the mothership we were free to explore. So we promptly scattered in the mild, rippling waves of the protected bay we’d been deployed in.

Some of us homed in on a nearby salmon stream, ducking our heads to spot groups of fish congregating before they forged their way upstream. Others scooted along the cliff edges, alternately gazing down into the water then….

Libby Anschutz Named Godmother of Star Seeker

by Julie Bouchner December 8, 2025
written by Julie Bouchner

Windstar Cruises is preparing to launch Star Seeker, the first of two new all-suite yachts. The yacht began sea trials in Portugal on October 23. Windstar today announces that Libby Anschutz has been named Star Seeker’s Godmother.

In maritime tradition, a Godmother brings good luck and protection to a ship and its passengers. Libby, daughter of Windstar owner Phil Anschutz, has a personal connection to the yacht and the family’s vision for thoughtful, welcoming travel experiences. Her sister, Sarah Anschutz, will serve as Godmother of Star Explorer, launching in 2026.

In November, Anschutz and Windstar president Christopher Prelog toured the shipyard to see the yacht.

Anschutz said, “Seeing Star Seeker for the first time was an unforgettable experience—the design, warmth, and attention to detail all felt distinctly Windstar,” says Anschutz. “I’m honored to serve as Godmother and look forward to celebrating this incredible new chapter with the team and our guests in January.”

The christening ceremony is scheduled for January 15 in Miami, where Anschutz will deliver the Godmother’s blessing and break a champagne bottle to officially name the yacht.

After the ceremony, Star Seeker will depart on a 7-night Christening Sailing from Miami to San Juan, with stops in the Dominican Republic and British Virgin Islands. Designed for 224 guests, Star Seeker is the first purpose-built yacht in Windstar’s Star Class fleet, offering intimate spaces and elegant design. Sister yacht Star Explorer will join the fleet in December 2026.

Sea Trials

Star Seeker completed sea trials in Portugal, testing speed, maneuverability, and safety systems. It has returned to the shipyard for final outfitting before its first Caribbean season, which will include 7- to 14-night voyages from San Juan, a Panama Canal trip in April, and a summer season in Alaska.

Upcoming Sailings

2026 itineraries include Alaska, the Caribbean, Asia, Latin America, and Ocean Crossings.

Art After Dark Launches Program at MSC Miami Cruise Terminal

by Porthole Cruise and Travel December 4, 2025
written by Porthole Cruise and Travel

On Wednesday, December 3, 2025, MSC Group’s Cruise Division and the Miami-Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs’ Art in Public Places program hosted Art After Dark: Panel Discussion and Artist Reception at the new MSC Miami Cruise Terminal at PortMiami. The event marked a major milestone for the terminal’s public art program and brought together community members, local leaders, and the artists behind the installations.

Event Overview

Guests entered through a light-filled breezeway and walked into the main Lobby, where Danielle Roney’s generative animation Maris played on large entrance monitors. Inside, visitors saw Lauren Shapiro’s Collected Forms ceramic frieze, followed by Tamara Kostianovsky’s Conference of Birds series in the elevator vestibule. Upstairs in the VIP Lounge, guests viewed Hugh Hayden’s Melting Pot and Mark Fleuridor’s quilt series Blooming Flowers and Clear Skies before taking their seats for opening remarks.

Rubén Rodríguez, CEO of MSC Group’s North America Cruise Division, commented: “We take pride in the MSC Miami Cruise Terminal, a modern architectural gateway designed not only to transform the travel experience for guests from around the world, but also to inspire them from the moment they arrive. Through our collaboration with the Miami-Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs’ Art in Public Places Program and PortMiami, we have ensured that the terminal sets new global standards in innovation while also championing creativity, environmental reflection, and meaningful cultural dialogue through public art.”

Miami-Dade County Mayor Danielle Levine Cava emphasized the value of collaboration and the role of public art in reflecting shared goals around environmental stewardship and community culture.

PortMiami’s growth is driven by people coming together with purpose. Real success happens when we build authentic partnerships. MSC Cruises and my administration share a deep commitment to protecting our oceans, safeguarding our planet for future generations, and elevating the cultural fabric of our community. This collaboration is a testament to the power of true partnership and exemplifies how public-private partnerships can enrich our lives through meaningful, inspiring public art.”

Hydi Webb, Director and CEO of PortMiami, noted that the new terminal adds world-class artworks to the seaport, further enhancing Miami’s cultural landscape.

Panel Discussion and Art Tour

During the panel, artists Mark Fleuridor, Hugh Hayden, Tamara Kostianovsky, Danielle Roney, Lauren Shapiro, and Juana Valdés spoke with Patricia Romeu, Chief of Art in Public Places, about how public art shapes civic spaces and reflects Miami’s cultural and environmental identity.

Ashlee Thomas, Interim Director, Miami-Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs, said: “The work of these incredible artists transforms civic spaces into world class iconic cultural landmarks. Integrating art into public spaces is redefining how we engage our built environment. It is especially meaningful to celebrate the magnificent series of public artworks at MSC Cruises during Miami Art Week. This further cements Miami-Dade County as a global epicenter for arts, culture, and innovation.”

After the panel, the Art in Public Places team led small group tours featuring insights from the artists themselves.

Guests ended the evening by walking across Juana Valdés’ terrazzo installation As Above, So Below: Wayfinding and Wandering before exiting the terminal. As they left, they were able to see Danielle Roney’s Maris displayed on the exterior monitors, visible nightly from 11 PM to 3 AM from the MacArthur Causeway and Biscayne Bay.

The full art program is permanently on view at the MSC Miami Cruise Terminal. Private tours are available by request at [email protected].

New Dining Concepts on Oceania Cruises’ Sonata

by Porthole Cruise and Travel December 2, 2025
written by Porthole Cruise and Travel

Oceania Cruises has introduced two new dining concepts for Oceania Sonata, the first ship in its new Sonata Class, launching in August 2027.

The ship will feature La Table par Maîtres Cuisiniers de France, an 18-seat fine-dining restaurant, and Nikkei Kitchen, an evening venue built around the blend of Peruvian flavors and Japanese techniques.

La Table: Partnership with Master Chefs of France

La Table is the only restaurant at sea created with the approval of the Maîtres Cuisiniers de France (Master Chefs of France). This is the first time the organization has partnered with a cruise line. Oceania’s Executive Culinary Directors, Chefs Alexis Quaretti and Eric Barale, are both members of the group, making Oceania the only line with two MCF chefs leading its culinary program.

La Table will offer a rotating menu designed by Chefs Quaretti and Barale, along with invited Master Chefs of France. It will also bring back Oceania’s Dom Pérignon Experience, a six-course tasting menu paired with three vintage Champagnes.

Nikkei Kitchen: Peruvian–Japanese Fusion

Nikkei Kitchen will showcase dishes rooted in Nikkei cuisine, which blends Peruvian ingredients with Japanese methods. The menu will feature fresh seafood, citrus, soy-based sauces, and peppers. Chef Gustavo Sugay, who has more than 20 years of experience in Nikkei cuisine, is collaborating with Oceania’s culinary team on the menu. Over the past year, he worked with the line to introduce 12 Nikkei dishes at Red Ginger.

Nikkei Kitchen’s menu will respect both Peruvian and Japanese traditions while encouraging creativity. Its bright, open design and visible kitchen will reflect the fresh, light style of the dishes.

Leadership Perspective

“Oceania Sonata represents an incredible opportunity to reimagine the future of our culinary program, while still offering the culinary concepts our guests know and love,” said Jason Montague, Chief Luxury Officer of Oceania Cruises.

Chef Quaretti added that both venues reflect the team’s dedication to their craft and their passion for exploring both French and global flavors.

La Table will require reservations and will have a wine experience surcharge. Nikkei Kitchen will be included in the ship’s specialty dining options and available on a first-come basis. More details and menus will be shared next year.

Additional Dining and Ship Details

Oceania Sonata will also include ten other dining venues guests already know, including the Grand Dining Room, Jacques, Red Ginger, Polo Grill, and Toscana.

The ship will be the ninth in the fleet and the first of four Sonata Class vessels, carrying 1,390 guests. Launching in August 2027, it will offer the brand’s most spacious design yet, with 30% of accommodations being suites.

PortMiami Posts Record Cruise Passenger Numbers and Cargo Growth

by Porthole Cruise and Travel December 2, 2025
written by Porthole Cruise and Travel

PortMiami had a strong year in Fiscal Year 2025, from October 1, 2024 to September 30, 2025, with record cruise passenger numbers and steady cargo growth. The port welcomed 8,564,225 cruise passengers, up 4 percent from 8,233,056 the year before, the highest number ever. Cargo also grew, with 1,115,058 TEUs handled, a 2.35 percent increase, marking the 11th year in a row the port moved more than one million TEUs.

“PortMiami’s achievements highlight its role as both a cruise and cargo powerhouse, contributing billions to the local economy while advancing a future-ready vision of innovation, resiliency, and global connectivity,” said Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava. “Through strategic investments in infrastructure and technology, the port is improving operational efficiency and ensuring long-term competitiveness.”

Hydi Webb, PortMiami Director and CEO, added, “These results reflect the dedication of our team and the strength of our partnerships with the cruise industry, cargo carriers, and the business community. As we expand and modernize our facilities, our focus remains on safe, efficient, and resilient operations that support Miami-Dade County’s economic growth and strengthen our position as a global gateway for travel and trade.”

The 2025-2026 cruise season will bring several new ships to PortMiami, including Cunard’s Queen Elizabeth and Virgin Voyages’ Brilliant Lady in October, Holland America’s Zuiderdam and Oceania Cruises’ Allura in November, MSC Cruises’ Grandiosa in December, Windstar Cruises’ Star Seeker in January 2026, Holland America’s Eurodam in February, Norwegian Cruise Line’s Norwegian Luna in March, and Silversea Cruises’ Silver Nova in May.

PortMiami’s cargo growth is supported by upgrades to its facilities, including faster and more efficient container handling. The South Florida Container Terminal now has 18 Electric Rubber-Tired Gantry Cranes, allowing higher stacking and quicker yard operations. Work is also ongoing at the Seaboard Marine yard to improve drainage and berths.

With new ships and continued upgrades, PortMiami is ready for more growth in cruise travel and cargo in 2026, maintaining its role as a major gateway for global travel and trade.
