A New Focus on Adventure Expeditions for Seabourn Cruise Line

Cruising isn’t just for those looking to relax. There is a new push in the industry for guided expeditions to some of the most unique and untouched areas of the world. The luxury expeditions market has a new player in its midst as Seabourn Cruise Line looks to offer guests an experience outside of the ordinary.

Partnering with Mariotti Damen Cruise on the ship design and build, Seabourn looks to tap into a growing market of those who don’t want to just sit and relax on a cruise vacation. It’s not the first Seabourn collaboration with famed shipbuilding company T. Mariotti. They also worked on Seabourn Odyssey in 2009, Seabourn Sojourn in 2010 and Seabourn Quest in 2011.

Those ships are very different than the vessels in the most recent announcement, however. The proposed ships hold just 264 guests and are built for a more intimate cruising experience to the farthest reaches of the world. Seabourn passengers have come to expect a certain level of opulence and the newest ships are set to exceed those already lofty expectations.

Rick Meadows, President of Seabourn Cruise Line, saw the move as one towards the future of cruise vacations.

“This is a groundbreaking moment for Seabourn and for luxury travelers, who will now find a new standard of authentic yet luxurious expedition adventures in new and amazing destinations few people will ever see,” he said. “The combination of immersive experience, fine accommodations and sumptuous amenities offered by these new ships builds on the success of our current product lineup and further demonstrates our leadership as innovators as we continue offering the finest ultra-luxury cruises available.”

While capable of traveling just about anywhere on Earth’s oceans, the ships are designed as polar class, meaning they’re uniquely suited towards Arctic and Antarctic expeditions. The new ships will include a number of amenities like kayaks, Zodiac rafts, 132 veranda suites and of course, some of the best cuisine you’ll find on any cruise line.

Seabourn Cruise Line is expected to offer bookings for their latest ships in 2019, with the first passengers setting sail in 2021.
