• Regent Seven Seas Cruises revealed artist renderings for the opulent pool area of the 750-passenger Seven Seas Explorer. Around the pool there’s teak decking, plush loungers, circular two-person daybeds, natural stone and marble accents, and a Southeast Asia-meets-Caribbean theme.

 

• Carnival Vista apparently has a sassy, female voice, likes piña coladas, and is friends with Food Network Star Guy Fieri – at least in a new YouTube video that highlights such features as Guy’s Burger Joint, The Havana Bar and Pool, the first IMAX Theater at sea, and the SkyRide on the new ship, which debuts next spring.

 

• Passengers on Windstar Cruises’ Idyllic British Isles sailing embarking on June 19, will have opportunity to taste the same cuisine as British royalty. Chef Darren McGrady, personal chef to Queen Elizabeth and her family for 15 years, will attend a private cocktail reception for passengers at the 13^th-century Picton Castle in Wales, prepare a three-course shipboard “royal feast,” and share tales from his time at Buckingham Palace, as part of the line’s complimentary Private Event program.

 

• Avalon Waterways will return to the Nile with the chartered M.S. Mayfair in 2016. A 9-day “Highlights of Egypt” vacation package will include 4-day cruises that visit Cairo, Luxor, Edfu, and Aswan.

 

• Emmy Award–winning actress Jane Seymour, star of Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman and a former Bond girl, will be lecturing aboard Queen Mary 2‘s June 3 trans-Atlantic crossing from New York to Southampton. Also an accomplished artist, Seymour will be conducting painting classes for guests (for a fee) in addition to discussing her screen roles during two Q&A sessions.
