During Styx concert cruise, Carnival announces lineup for spring 2015.

When’s the last time you went to a live concert? For me, it’s been about seven years. And when I asked this question to fellow journalists while sailing aboard Carnival Breeze last week, the answers were about the same.

Going to a concert on land entails getting a babysitter, driving to the venue, parking, worrying about driving home if you’re drinking, or fighting crowds. But on a Carnival LIVE concert series cruise, you just sit back and enjoy the show — in my case, the legendary rock band, Styx.

Every time the band began singing a new song, the crowd immediately recognized it and would go crazy. Each song took me back to my rockin’ teenage years when Styx had four consecutive multi-platinum albums as well as 16 top 40 singles.

“The audience of cruisers in a vacation state-of-mind combined with the ship’s theater design creates an incredible energy that’s fun for everyone, including the band,” said Tommy Shaw, singer and guitarist for Styx.

The 2014 concert lineup included great performers: Jennifer Hudson, Gavin DeGraw, Martina McBride, Olivia Newton-John, and Daughtry plus fabulous bands: 38 Special, Chicago, Foreigner, Lady Antebellum, and REO Speedwagon to name just a few.

And on October 9, Carnival announced its Spring 2015 artist lineup that will feature Journey, Rascal Flatts, Little Big Town, Smokey Robinson, and Styx with more artists to be announced next year.

“Our 2014 Carnival LIVE shows have been tour standouts, so we are thrilled to get on board again to rock the boat next year,” said Shaw.

There will be 10 “Fun Ships” departing from six U.S. ports: Miami, Port Canaveral, Tampa, Jacksonville, Charleston, and Galveston. The Carnival LIVE tickets for 2015 will range from $35 to $60 for general admission and VIP tickets will be $125 to $250, offering fans seating in the first four rows, an artist meet and greet, a souvenir photo with the artist, and a commemorative concert pass.

Carnival LIVE was created to give guests the opportunities to listen to their favorite bands and performers in intimate venues at a great value. And after experiencing a concert like this, you’ll realize all the reasons it’s such a unique music experience.
