Porthole Cruise News Briefs – Jun. 3, 2016
- Disney Cruise Line has announced some of the enhancements awaiting Disney Wonder during the ship’s refurbishment this fall, including a Southern-style restaurant, Tiana’s Place; an authentic English tavern packed with subtle nods to classic London-based Disney films; and, exclusive to Wonder, Marvel Super Hero Academy, which will feature a personal appearance by Spider-Man, who teaches kids how to hone their spider senses and work on web-slinging.
- Star Clippers has opened 2017-2018 bookings for all three of their tall ships, including new 7-, 10-, and 11-night summer sailings from Bali, with various cultural and beach stops across Indonesia.
- Windstar Cruises has announced several new itineraries for 2017, including 8-day Croatia cruises and two 12-day Venice-to-Athens voyages aboard the sailing ship Wind Star, and new daylight transits of the Panama Canal aboard motor yachts Star Pride and Star Breeze.
- Poseidon Expeditions is reaching out to two often overlooked groups – children and single travelers – with its latest Arctic and Antarctic exploration cruises. The 114-passenger M/V Sea Spirit has triple-occupancy berths ideal for families traveling with kids, while solo travelers can opt for same-sex cabin assignments to preclude single-supplement fees (and if they can’t find a cabin mate for a “request share” traveler, they’ll still waive the supplement). In addition to Sea Spirit, the line operates 50 Years of Victory, a nuclear-powered icebreaker that travels to the geographic North Pole.
