Carnival Cruise Line outlined itineraries for the inaugural season of the much-anticipated Carnival Vista. The line’s biggest ship will debut in Europe in spring 2016, its inaugural cruise a 13-day itinerary from Trieste to Barcelona, embarking May 1.

The voyage is the first of 18 8- to 13-day European departures from Barcelona and Athens through October 21, 2016. The roster marks Carnival’s return to Europe after a three-year absence.

New ports for the line will include Crete (Heraklion) and Corfu, Greece; Valletta, Malta; Palermo, Sicily; Cagliari, Sardinia; and Gibraltar. Several 10-day cruises from Barcelona will include an overnight stay in Athens (Piraeus).

After the Europe season, the ship will sail a trans-Atlantic crossing to New York in late October for a series of sailings beginning in November on itineraries not yet announced. Then, following the New York cruises, Carnival Vista will be based in Miami.
