Viking Launches a Dozen Ships
Cruise News – Mar. 27, 2015
Viking River Cruises launched 12 new river ships in ceremonies in Amsterdam and Rostock, Germany — not topping its Guinness World Record of 16 ships christened in one day from last year, but also not showing any plans to slow growth. For those keeping track, Viking now operates 60 ships.
Ten of the newly christened ships are 190-passenger Longships, which boast such features as cabins and suites with verandas and an indoor/outdoor café in the rounded bow. They will be deployed on the Danube, Rhine and Main rivers.
The other two new launches are a similar design, but carry 98 passengers, and will deployed on the Elbe River in Germany.
The godmothers of the newly christened ships were all Viking employees.
