MSC Cruises Reveals Details of Its First Next-Generation Ship

Cruise News – Jul. 1, 2016

MSC Cruises has revealed further details of its first next-generation smart ship, MSC Meraviglia, which will debut in June 2017 and spend an inaugural summer season sailing the Western Mediterranean. The line says the new ship will introduce new, cutting-edge ways to connect cruisers seamlessly with their sea and land experiences.

Announced highlights for MSC Meraviglia include:

MSC Meraviglia's Cirque du SoleilExclusive entertainment from Cirque du Soleil
Two unique Cirque du Soleil shows will be performed 6 nights per week at the first-of-its-kind, purpose-built Carousel Lounge, a custom entertainment venue featuring the latest technology, cutting-edge equipment, and special rigging in a performance space with a 180° circular glass wall. There will also be exclusive on-site dinner service for up to 100 of the 450 guests booked for the show.

Enriched family offerings and entertainment
For the first time on any MSC Cruises ship, all facilities for families, kids, and teens are together in a dedicated family amusement park and children’s area. This area will feature the DOREMI Studio Lounge for family activities, DOREMI Tech Lab for kids who love technology, and facilities designed in partnership with the LEGO Group and Chicco. An onboard Aqua Park will include four water slides, a splash pool, and a champagne bowl. And the Himalayan Bridge will allow guests to attach themselves to a rope and cross the ship, nearly 200 feet above the water.

Comfortable accommodations
MSC Meraviglia will offer 10 types of staterooms to choose from including those in an enhanced MSC Yacht Club, which spans three decks with 78 suites, 15 inside staterooms, and two apartments; as well as modular staterooms for extended multigenerational family travelers (up to three staterooms can be combined to accommodate up to 10 guests).

Fine and casual dining options
MSC Meraviglia will boast 12 dining venues from a 20-hour buffet of Mediterranean specialties and international cuisine to fine dining options including the award-winning Kaito Sushi Bar, the new Kaito Teppanyaki Restaurant, and an American-style steakhouse with specialty meats from around the world.

A 315-foot long Mediterranean-style promenade
An impressive Mediterranean-style indoor promenade will feature a 262-foot LED sky that creates a 24-hour atmosphere. With stunning visuals and effects, the Promenade will be the social center of the ship where guests can stroll, shop, or snack on specialties from Jean Philippe Maury, the award-winning French chocolatier and pastry chef.

Elegant pools for day and night
Three elegantly designed pools include an 82-foot-long South Beach–inspired main pool on Deck 15 that’s illuminated with special lighting at night; a 33-foot indoor pool with a magrodome that can be opened; and an Aft Pool on Deck 16 that at night is transformed into a space to dance under the stars. In addition, a private One Deck Pool on Deck 19 is exclusively for MSC Yacht Club guests.
