Shaq — NBA MVP. Rapper. TV and film star. And now, Carnival CFO!

In what might go down as the most unique new-hire announcement in cruise industry history, Shaquille O’Neal has been appointed CFO, or Chief Fun Officer, for Carnival Cruise Line.

With a unique resume that has taken him from Kazaam to Carnival with a Hall of Fame NBA career in-between, the man best known as “Shaq” will utilize his oversized personality to inspire cruisers to “Choose Fun” when planning their next vacation.

“He will serve as a great ambassador ensuring everyone knows all about our one-of-a-kind brand of fun,” says Carnival President Christine Duffy, hitting on the cruise line’s newest “Choose Fun” campaign which launched this week. “We’re confident that his embodiment of our brand values will inspire America to Choose Fun and discover the authentic, participatory, and social atmosphere that Carnival offers.”

Following Carnival’s video announcement, Shaq will take on his role via video content, social media, and experiential activities. In one, he tours Carnival Vista and takes viewers along as he experiences SkyRide, Cloud 9 Spa, a burger at Guy Fieri’s Burger Joint, and more.

“In today’s world, it’s more important than ever to choose fun, especially when everyone is busy with work, family, and life in general,” says O’Neal. “So I’m honored to be appointed the Chief Fun Officer at Carnival, a company that lives and breathes fun.”
