Porthole Cruise News Briefs – Feb. 12, 2016

  • Cruisers aboard Hurtigruten’s MS Midnatsol will have spectacular photo opportunities, thanks to complimentary photography and digital media classes while visiting the Chilean fjords and Antarctica. The program includes lectures and workshops on wildlife photography, advice on handling cameras in extreme weather, and professional help in social-media sharing and creating personal photo books.

 

  • Holland America Line debuted the fifth “Countdown to Koningsdam” episode in the video series that was created to provide updates and share the excitement as the new ship nears delivery in April 2016. Hosted by Johnathan Rogers, Koningsdam’s inaugural cruise director, “Countdown to Koningsdam Episode 5,” features the line’s Senior Vice President of Guest Experience and Product Development, Michael Smith, who takes guests inside the ship’s primary dining venue.

 

  • Carnival Cruise Line has opened reservations for more than 3,500 voyages through April 2018, including 22 longer “Carnival Journeys” cruises to exotic ports and two partial transits of the Panama Canal departing from Baltimore and Tampa.

 

  • For its 2017 World Cruise, Crystal Cruises will be visiting four new, culturally significant ports of call: Santo Tomás de Castilla, Guatemala; Matarani, Peru; Iquique, Chile; and Castro Island (Chiloé), Chile.
