More Alaska coming aboard Princess

Cruise News – Jan. 16, 2015

When the Alaska cruise season gets under way in May, Princess Cruises passengers will find themselves sampling Alaskan delicacies and mingling with locals including members of the daring crew of the popular Discovery channel TV show The Deadliest Catch.

The line’s new “North to Alaska!” onboard programming includes Alaska-focused culinary, educational, and entertainment experiences created in partnership with local experts.

Look for king crab, king salmon, and other local seafood on menus, in partnership with the Alaska Seafood Marketing Institute. Princess has also partnered with local restaurants to feature signature dishes including crab cakes from Tracy’s King Crab Shack in Juneau.

Onboard interactions with Alaskans will include real lumberjacks who will lead such activities as an axe-throwing competition, and crab fishermen as seen on the TV show, talking about their adventures in the Bering Sea.

Alaska-focused celebrations are part of the go-local programming too, including a nighttime Midnight Sun deck party.
