When ms Koningsdam joins the Holland America Line fleet in February 2016, the ship will debut a new specialty restaurant, a beefed-up Culinary Arts Center program, and other upgrades geared toward foodie passengers.

The new restaurant, Sel de Mer, will be located with other dining venues on the ship’s central promenade on Deck 2. Sel de Mer features fresh oysters and other seafood and dishes you’d find in a French brasserie.

At the reimagined Culinary Arts Center, operated in partnership with Food & Wine magazine, guests will be able to watch top chefs do cooking demonstrations in a new show kitchen as well as take hands-on cooking classes. Also available will be a new dinner experience, with artisanal food prepared right in front of you.

The Lido Market buffet will also get a new look, including chefs manning action stations, and a new Grand Dutch Café — fitted out in Delftware shades of blue and white — will offer Heineken on tap.

The menus for Koningsdam are being created by Holland America Line’s Master Chef, Rudi Sodamin, named Best Cruise Line Chef in Porthole’s Editor-in-Chief Awards.

“Koningsdam allows us to leverage our culinary creativity and debut new venues and magnificent food concepts,” said Orlando Ashford, president of Holland America Line. “We know that guests are going to be excited with our many creative dining choices and appealing new experiences aboard Koningsdam.”
