Familiar Faces and New Places on Norwegian Escape

Cruise News – Oct. 3, 2014

Norwegian Cruise Line’s Norwegian Escape, the Breakaway-Plus ship scheduled to debut next fall, will retain popular design features from the line’s Breakaway class, including The Waterfront and 678 Ocean Place, officials said.

The Waterfront, on Deck 8, will be an expansive oceanfront boardwalk lined with restaurants, bars, and shops, while 678 Ocean Place will encompass three decks (6, 7, and 8) and serve as an activity hub with restaurants, bars, clubs, and the casino, which will be the line’s largest.

The Escape Casino will span more than 19,000 square feet and have a new Skyline Bar. Passengers will be able to try their luck with 357 slot machines and 28 gaming tables.

A new feature on Norwegian Escape will be the Private Room at Taste, a private dining room for groups of up to 100 guests. It will be located just below the main Taste restaurant on Deck 5. Additional new dining, lounge, and entertainment venues will be announced in coming months, officials said.

The new ship will retain several popular dining venues including the Moderno Churrascaria, La Cucina, Cagney’s Steakhouse, Teppanyaki, Le Bistro, and Savor main dining room. There will also be a Manhattan Room, a two-deck-high, New York–themed restaurant as on Norwegian Breakaway.

The line has not yet said whether the ship will have a celebrity chef represented — on Norwegian Breakaway and Norwegian Getaway, there are seafood restaurants run by Iron Chef and Chopped judge Geoffrey Zakarian.

Bars that will be returning include the classy Prime Meridian, the Humidor Cigar Lounge, and Mixx. The ship will also have a 24-hour O’Sheehan’s Neighborhood Bar & Grill and a gelato shop.

Norwegian Escape will sail weekly Eastern Caribbean cruises from Miami beginning November 2015.
