Porthole Cruise News Briefs – September 2, 2016

  •  Carnival Imagination is entering dry dock for three weeks to undergo a multimillion-dollar refurbishment. By September 25, the ship will have new spaces including a Guy’s Burger Joint, Alchemy Bar, BlueIguana Tequila Bar, and other onboard favorites like a WaterWorks aqua park and a Serenity adults-only retreat. Following the makeover, the ship will return to 3- and 4-day Baja California cruises from Long Beach.
  •  River expedition operator Pandaw is taking guests further up the Mekong River than any passenger vessel has gone before, to the new French colonial port of Kratie, offering cruisers a chance to see the habitat of the shy but playful Mekong dolphin.
  •  Crystal Serenity has become the largest luxury cruise ship to enter the Northwest Passage, arriving at Ulukhatok, Northwest Territories, Canada, on August 27. The 32-day journey will conclude in New York on September 16.
