Cruise Line Named ‘Corporate Partner of the Year’ by St. Jude

For St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, the fight against cancer and other life-threatening diseases is only possible with help from donations from private and public entities across the world. Carnival Cruise Line is one of the hospital’s top benefactors, raising more than $16 million since the partnership began in 2010 and earning recognition as their Corporate Partner of the Year thanks to their fundraising and events for patients.

The award was presented on June 19th by Richard Shadyac, Jr., president and CEO of ALSAC, the fundraising and awareness organization for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Carnival’s Commitment to the Kids

One of the most important ways Carnival Cruise Line helped is called Care to Play: Carnival for St. Jude Kids, a fleetwide fundraising program which raised money in fun and innovative ways like Groove for St. Jude, a ship-wide dance party, and the Bear Cuddly Program, where kids made their own stuffed animals.

Duffy explained the decision to make St. Jude a focus for Carnival Cruise Lines.

“St. Jude is an organization very near and dear to our hearts and to be recognized as their ‘Corporate Partner of the Year’ is a truly wonderful honor and a testament to the support and dedication of our more than 40,000 employees,” she said. “We will continue to look for even more ways to support the hospital in their fight against childhood cancer.”

Mr. Shadyac was thankful for Carnival and their employees who made fundraising a top priority.

“Our sincerest thanks to Christine and the entire Carnival Cruise Line team for the collaborative spirit in which they have approached our partnership not only over the last year, but throughout its entirety,” he said. “They are all to be commended for their steadfast commitment to our lifesaving mission, raising critical funds to help expand it around the globe and for expressing so many acts of kindness and goodwill to so many of our patients and their families.”
