Mystery Aboard Saga Sapphire
It’s no mystery that a cruise is a great vacation, but for those aboard Saga Sapphire operated by Saga Cruises, the destination is something to be discovered! Captain Horne’s Mystery Cruise is as unique a cruise as you’ll find because guests have no idea where the ship is going when they step on board!
Captain Horne’s Mystery Cruise offers guests the chance to cruise with the Captain and maybe see someplace they’ve never experienced before!
What is Captain Horne’s Mystery Cruise?
Captain Stuart Horne has spent much of his life at sea. Working his way up the officer ranks on various cruise lines before landing his current position as the Captain of Saga Sapphire, Captain Horne knows the best cruising destinations and how to get there.
“I like to keep everyone guessing as long as possible. Perhaps I’ll head down an estuary towards a port, then simply turn around and go in another direction – that’ll bamboozle them,” Captain Horne said. “I’ll only tell my navigation team and engineers as much as they need to know for route planning and fuel management. After all, the more people in on it, the greater the risk that someone will let slip the next destination and spoil the fun.”

Ports of call will be announced upon arrival and guests will have the opportunity to experience unique shore excursions which highlight the best each location has to offer.
The cruise, which leaves from Southhampton this November, offers all-inclusive drink packages and tours plus a very special surprise; the Syd Lawrence Orchestra.
The orchestra, directed by Chris Dean since founder Syd’s retirement in 1996, features star vocalist Sarah Eyden. The orchestra recreates big band standards by music legends, including Glenn Miller, Count Basie, Tommy Dorsey and George Gershwin.
Saga Cruises also teases that several other celebrity mystery guests will be onboard, but you’ll have to book your ticket to find out who!
