Our magazine is enriched by a diverse group of rotating writers who bring their expertise and passion for travel to every issue. Here are some of our most established contributors who consistently deliver insightful stories and industry knowledge.

Steve Leland

Julie Bouchner
Julie Bouchner is the Marketing Lead. She has a Master’s Degree in Journalism from Syracuse University. When she is not writing, she enjoys traveling, spending time with family, baking, and playing with her Siberian Husky named Ellie.

Judi Cuervo
Judi Cuervo began her freelance cruise writing in 1998 with Porthole Cruise Magazine where, as J.C. Travell, she authored the Jane Q. Cruiser and horoscope columns as well as regular cruise and ship reviews. A New York City native, her cruise writing has appeared in regional, national, Canadian, U.K., and Australian publications.

Kate Wickers
Kate Wickers is a British freelance journalist, novelist, and world traveler. Her work includes travel, culture, and food features for international publications, including The Telegraph, The Scotsman, The Daily Mail, The New Zealand Herald, Italia, and JRNY magazine. Her first travel memoir, Shape of a Boy, was published in 2022.

Jon Fleming
Jon Fleming lives in London, U.K., and has been traveling all his adult life — from a month-long round-Europe rail trip when he was 18, to a year-long round-the-world backpacking trip for his honeymoon. For the last 17 years, he has been traveling by cruise ship as a destination lecturer, visiting 130 countries and sailing on 11 world-cruise itineraries.

Richard Varr
Richard Varr has written for USA Today, the Dallas Morning News, Islands, Sydney Morning Herald, Highways, and Home & Away. He authored a DK Eyewitness guide to the Pennsylvania Dutch Country, and his Porthole story on Grenada earned first place in the SATW Central States international stories competition.

Kevin Revolinski
Kevin Revolinski has lived abroad in Italy, Panama, and Guatemala, writing for Rough Guide guidebooks, Caribbean Travel & Life, Chicago Tribune, and Wisconsin State Journal, as well as a memoir, The Yogurt Man Cometh: Tales of an American Teacher in Turkey.

Theresa Russell
Theresa Russell has visited all seven continents and destinations within. If it's about travel, she writes it. Every trip is an adventure for her and she believes that travel makes the world a better place. Having recently suffered a vision impairment, she is the biggest proponent of making travel a priority.

Lola Méndez
Lola Méndez is an Uruguayan-American who writes about sustainability, travel, lifestyle, wellness, LGBTQ+, and Latinx topics for CNN, USA Today, InStyle, ELLE, Refinery29, and her responsible-travel blog, MissFilatelista.com.You can follow her on social media @LolaAnnaMendez.

John Roberts
John Roberts of InTheLoopTravel.com explores destinations around the world in a fun, fit, and adventurous way, writing for publications like AARP The Magazine, Cruise Critic, World of Cruising (U.K.), Travel Pulse, Cruise Passenger (Australia), and TravelAge West.
